How We Research & Fact-Check Our Guides

Money decisions deserve accurate information. Here is exactly how every guide on Wealth From Zero is researched, checked, updated and corrected.

Official sources first

Limits, rates and rules come from the agency that publishes them, not from other blogs.

Every number checked

Figures and worked examples are verified and recalculated before a guide goes live.

Updated when rules change

When the IRS or the Fed changes the numbers, the affected guides are reviewed.

About the site

Who writes Wealth From Zero

Wealth From Zero is an independent site run by Marcos Moreno. It focuses on U.S. personal finance basics: budgeting, saving, paying off debt, retirement accounts and beginner investing. Marcos is not a licensed financial advisor, accountant or attorney, and nothing on this site is personalized financial, tax or legal advice. Our job is to explain how things work, using official sources, so you can make your own informed decisions.

Sources

Where our numbers come from

Any figure that can change (contribution limits, tax brackets, interest rates, inflation, insurance coverage limits, loan rules) is taken from the primary source that publishes it. These are the sources we rely on most:

When we cite a number, we link to the page it came from so you can check it yourself. If we can’t verify a statistic from a reliable source, we don’t publish it.

Process

How every guide is made

  1. 1

    Research

We start from official sources and the questions real readers ask, not from other sites’ articles.

  2. 2

    Write for beginners

Plain English, worked examples with realistic numbers, and clear steps you can actually follow.

  3. 3

    Fact-check

Every limit, rate, rule and statistic is checked against its primary source before publishing. Calculations in examples and in our calculators are recomputed to make sure they add up.

  4. 4

    Disclose limits

If a topic depends on your personal situation (taxes, debt relief, insurance), we say so and point you to the official resource or a qualified professional.

  5. 5

    Review and update

Time-sensitive guides are reviewed when the underlying numbers change, for example when the IRS announces new contribution limits or the Federal Reserve changes rates. Articles show the date they were last updated.

Transparency

Tools, ads and independence

How we use tools, including AI

We use software tools to help with research, drafting, editing and building calculators, and that can include AI writing assistants. Tools never have the final word: every figure is checked against its primary source, and every guide is reviewed by Marcos before it’s published or updated.

Ads and affiliate links

Wealth From Zero may earn money from advertising and, in some cases, affiliate links. That never changes what we write or which options we explain. We don’t accept payment for favorable coverage, and we don’t recommend specific financial products as right for any individual reader.
